The second phase, expected to begin within two years, calls for raising the roof and doubling the seating capacity to 4,000 in the main rink.

Blaise MacDonald traveled to Florida recently to make a presentation to coaches and athletic directors for the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, an 11-member league that includes current national champion Michigan and Final Four participant Ohio State.

"We're very attractive to the CCHA and a lot of leagues because of our location and our media market and what we can provide. And the fact that we're in an NHL city is a good thing," MacDonald said

Yep, what could have been with Niagara hockey indeed. The program got off to a super hot start with Blaise MacDonald at the helm and the future looked blindingly bright....the sky was the limit. Then Blaise left but Burkholder held it together for several years until either his recruiting budget got squeezed or he just ran out of gas because the program went down fast and has continued to flounder even with new coach Lammers...could be he's suffering from a squeezed budget too.
