In reply to: Little Bird 's message, "Hockey Arena Complex Coming To Downtown NF" on Thursday, May 26, 09:47:13am

I from Amherst and if this 6,000 seat ice hockey rink gets built it is a game changer for Niagara Falls and Western New York. Not just a WNY OHL hockey but minor pro sports like indoor football and indoor soccer is possible with an arena this size. I was a season ticket holder for both the Buffalo Blizzard indoor soccer team and Buffalo Destroyers arena football team those franchises failed partly because of the high rent cost at then Buffalo Marine Midland Arena and was way too large at 19,000 plus for minor professional sports teams like that. Both those WNY teams needed a smaller arena. Cities like St Louis, Baltimore and Kansas City have smaller arenas so they kept there indoor soccer teams.

Western New York is one of the largest areas in the United States with no professional indoor or outdoor soccer franchises it is a embarrassment when most major cities either has a indoor soccer team or a Division 1 or Division 2 professional soccer team. We have Division 4 amateur with Buffalo FC at Buffalo All High Stadium. I think indoor football for sure in the summer would make it in WNY with a 6,000 seat arena. Especially when Buffalo Bills new price structure for the new Bills stadium is going to potentially price many WNY fans out of professional football with the PSL’s. Niagara Purple Eagles playing there full time automatic top three yearly in the MAAC for basketball with a facility like that. I think Niagara University with a arena facility like this should consider joining the St Bonaventure Bonnies in the Atlantic 10 conference.

Canisius College Golden Griffins where I am a alum has no such facility weather there Canisius College or Canisius University it doesn’t change the perception there about Canisius they play in a high school gym and the high school coach Reggie Witherspoon who should have never been hired at Canisius College after his failure at UB. I am excited for Niagara Falls as a Buffalo sports fan it is really good news for WNY overall on the WNY sports landscape in my opinion. Go Purple Eagles! Let’s Go Buffalo

I still say it'll never be built...wasn't there supposed to be a casino built with the Indians a few years ago?
