NU acceptance rate this year was 92%.
Standards be damned. If you can get a loan to come you can come. A shocking number of these students fit the PELL profile.

Canisius was 72%

Seriously, how else do you make up for a lack of applications, plus I would think that NU students had at least a C coming out of high school. I goofed off in high school basically and was accepted into Creighton with a C average + probably a decent score on the ACT (at the time).

Having your front door almost wide open is the way of life for many colleges today with the shrinking number of high school graduates - and this before the demographic cliff hits in 2-3 years.

Can you imagine what the numbers will be like maybe a dozen years from now? U.S. birth rates are way down - young couples often can't afford more than one kid (or no kids), unlike the families of the past, when having a brood of 3 or 4 children was pretty standard.

Let me tell you, if you think things are bad now, just wait and see what the near future brings to on campus higher education. Only a handful of school are mitigating their tuition and fees or even keeping them the same as last year. Many kids are forgoing college and seeking employment or are going to technical or career schools. This even applies to community colleges where kids can go for technical certificates and diplomas at relatively low costs. The community colleges also offer technical AS or AAS degrees at favorable tuition and fees.

The young students are also tired of the "woke" bullshit that does not allow them to think or be creative for fear of their grades being diminished by their professors.

All of the above and more have serious and negative implications for the American higher education system.

No question, it's tough times ahead for smaller, private colleges and universities.
