Best schedule in decades, even Buff St is cool.
UB, Bonnie’s, Bucknell, ND, Cuse!!

Just for reference in 1982-83 we drew 2700 a game at the “new” Gallagher center and we hosted, Bonnie’s, Buff St, Fairfield (MAAC), Cuse, SJU and Ohio.
Also played Ayla a Cmas tourney with Utah, Barkley and Call st Fullerton.
13-14 NBA players on those rosters. (Maybe more).

I'll tell you what, Tom. I will post in peace. I will not respond to any posts by that guy.

I will post about sports and athletics only.

HOWEVER, if I am attacked after a contributory post, then I expect YOU to delete the trolls post. That's all I ask.

Can I post here with out this clown getting involved. (I will not debate this DB)
Just to clarify.
CAL St Fullerton with Leon Wood
Auburn with Charles Barkley
Utah

Buff State is a great exhibition game, d3 games do not count, since it is a close regional team!

this is a great schedule, especially compared to past years. I will even buy two season tix, and donate them back, since I probably will not make a game and if I did would not need to pay.

I looked again at our 1982-83 schedule and it was awesome
Bonnies (2) H/A
Buff State
Fairfield
West Mich
St Johns
Ohio
Cute
Lasalle
Utah (tom Chambers)
Cal State Full (Leon Wood)
did not play Auburn, Chuck Barkely in tourney, but could have)
Cornell
Bucknell
Penn State
Drexel
Cleveland state
ECAC North (Pitino at BU, Calhoun at NE, Rick Carlisle @ Maine)

Probably best schedule in last 40 years.
Jacko played some decent one.

82-83 was back in the old ECAC North days with Pete Lonergan at the helm...Pete was not afraid to schedule up.

Pete is a great guy and got screwed. Andy Walker took over for our Sr year, it was not the same! They did have a great team, the following year, as Andy had a couple of transfers.

We had great crowds, tons of student support.

The buzz is Pete Lonergan was found to be interviewing for the Fairfield job and was consequently let go by Fr. Levesque....enter Andy Walker who was later let go himself.

If I recall correctly, NU played Syracuse at home in the Gallagher Center the next year in December of 1983. Pearl Washington was a freshman, Syracuse also had Wendell Alexis and Raf Addison. I recall the game being played on a Saturday afternoon after finals were finishing up the day before. It was pretty cool watching NU play Cuse in a real home game.

You are correct it was our freshman year, I remember finishing finals on Friday and staying in the dorms Friday night and my Dad coming to pick me up on Saturday. We packed up my room and then went to watch the game at the Gallagher Center on Saturday afternoon.

Are there any of these old games on Youtube?

The school has to have some of these games on film somewhere right? Probably not knowing NU...But if they did, a nice little project would be putting some of them on youtube.

There is a guy on Twitter who puts old Bills games on Youtube (BillsVHS) and it is super cool to watch.

I have every Niagara game I could get on VHS, including the NAC Championship against Boston U. in their empty gym. Niagara lost that game. There are no Calvin Murphy games, as Niagara and the local/regional and national networks destroyed any tapes they had of him long ago. Even the ECAC games of the week cannot be found. Luckily, I have many, including Niagara's last 2 NCAA games vs. Florida A&M, Kansas and Oklahoma. I even have the both NCAA Selection Shows; and ESPN's Top 20 College BB players of all-time, which at that time included Calvin Murphy.

Bob Koshinski is the only one who was able to find the limited tapes on Murph, and it's posted online.

I've got all those Channel 3 games, South Florida, St.John's , St. Bona, Canisius, Holy Cross, NH, VT, Northeastern, BU, Maine, Princeton, Providence, Illinois State at NU and at Illinois State, Buffalo, Hartford, Army, Cornell, Colgate, and many more.

I had many Niagara ball players in my classes when I taught at NU. Pete Lonergan and I go way back, and I enjoyed our discussions in his office.

I've got all those old games from the NAC in my archive too, Soup, as well as a bunch from the MAAC...of course live streaming on the internet put an end to airing games on TV and that ended adding to my collection. You conversations with Pete Lonergan must've been cool !

I mentioned that many years ago on this forum. Pete and I went back towhee he was at NCCC. So when I got to NU we talked about numerous things. I had Skip Speaks among other players in my classes. I reminded Pete of a game where I played against his NCCC Faculty Team. I was the 6-7 point guard on the other team featuring Forrest Richardson. Our frontline was 6-7, 6-6 and 6-4. Anyway we mopped the floor with them. I think we won by about 15 points or so. I only had 2 points in that game,a I had a ton of assists though and a few boards.jumper from the top of the key that hit the backboard and dropped in. Our shooting guard was also 6-4. We towered over the Faculty Team. IT was the first loss that the Faculty had ever had against any team, visiting or at home. Pete was a good ball player for them.

The coolest story I have is the one in 1985. My wife and I were returning to WNY from my interview with the NYPD (on Lafeyette Street) in Manhattan. Who do we bump into at Kennedy Airport ????? Marshall Wingate ! Anyway, I introduced myself and my wife, and we talked Niagara basketball for about 10 minutes or so.
He was a great guy and super friendly. If we both had the time, we could have talked for hours; unfortunately, we had to catch a plane back to Buffalo, and he had just gotten in to NYC. By the way, I got the job and moved to Brooklyn, shortly thereafter. I had my choice of either Staten Island or the Bronx. I chose the Bronx. Staten Island would have been to quiet for me. It was known amongst the cops there as "the country club." Ah, those were the days.

4 years atNiagara and being involved with basketball was awesome.
Still wear my 1000 win ring (1986 at New Hampshire) and most of the teammates are connected on Facebook. We lost two, Jaun Neal and Chris Jonsson (my roommate) to early and Mike Daley.
Had pleasure to meet Calvin Murphy a few times, Marshall Wingate! Frank Layden, Hubie Brown, Larry Costello (played Utica out Soph year).

ND - L

Bucknell: W

Utah S - L Are you sure this isn't Utah Valley State U. ?

YSU - W

SFU - W

SBU - W

BSC - W

'Cute - L

Buffalo - L

5-4
