NCAA D-1 athletics is certainly a big way to do it. It puts your school on the map and attracts potential students. It's also a not for profit educational enterprise which further accentuates its' endeavors in the athletic arena , given that status. St. Thomas has a tuition of about $28, 500 per annum AFTER financial aid, which is quite high, especially given that that figure does NOT include room & board. There has to be some serious alum donors along with "friends" of the University making enormous contributions to the physical plant, etc., to the school. Hey, good for them !
