In reply to: RCM 's message, "Hockey" on Wednesday, August 30, 04:28:16pm

Lammers had his best season ever at Niagara last year going 19-18-3...let's hope there's carry-over into 2023-24.

It all depends on how the other league programs have progressed, as well. It's a competitive conference, but there's usually one to two teams that are a bit better than the rest. AIC has certainly been pretty good , lately. Of course RIT has had its' moments too. I haven't looked in a long time to see the other program recruits and how they stack up to Lammer's bounty. Hopefully, this will be Niagara's year. Maybe the Purple Eagles can separate themselves from the pack for a few years and develop a mini dynasty in the league. Canisius had a great year last season's so I expect them to build off that. Let's face it, both Niagara and Canisius have proximity to Canada for recruiting purposes; if only Niagara could take extreme advantage of it.

Canisius was the upset winner in the playoffs to advance to the NCAA Hockey Tournament. They got knocked out in the 1st round of the NCAA's.

The wildest thing about hockey has been the teams we use to make fun of have passed us.

I do not know why we can not be competitive in the AHA. We have an on campus rink, relatively good facilities, etc.

I think maybe what is held against the hockey program is the big plans that never came fruition from the hop.

If NU is ever going to have a good season and make a run it seems this is the year to do it!

Atlantic Hockey is wide open for any member school to win, because there's really no powerhouse dominating the conference and a lot of weaklings like Mercyhurst and Bentley. The Purps have as good a chance as anybody, they just have to continue where they left off last year and build on it.
