I believe that a skilled player with more of a perimeter/wing game can play more as a frosh and a big man. It looks like JAM plays the waiting game interms of recruiting. He scopes out kids who are primed to break out as Seniors, and who do but when they want to jump up to Major D-1, those D-1 programs have no Scholarships to offer. I think it has worked of late.
I think this kid can be special as well. JAM may be on a role now with 1 star like recruit per year. First Tyrone Lewis, then Anthony Nelson, and now, hopefully Cooley. These 3 are definitely more perimeter players so our front court may seem a little more like patch work.
Big Benson has come along nicely and will definitely benefit from Nelson and Lewis having a tendency to pass more than Charon. Garrison and Benn will be a little unknow. I agree they are solid players and will contribute. I hope they will provide steady leadership, how much offense they provide may not be critical to JAM with Lewis, Nelson and now Cooley. I think Eric Williams will contribute because he is older, coming from Canada.
I think we know what we have with the 3 amigos who were sophs off the bench this past year, Patterson, Williamson, and Gordon. I see JAM giving more time to the 3 frosh, when you include K Edwards in that mix. This could also be altered depending on what additional recruits come in.
Hopefully there is a one more 6-8, 225# power forward out there.
