You may be interested to learn of a new venture being undertaken in the old factory site at Farnborough called:-

FARNBOROUGH AIRFORCE.

Richard Noble of Thrust SSC fame has provided the following text about his latest venture to undertake the production of aircraft at Farnborough once again after a gap of some 82 years since the end of World War 1. His latest project, will I am sure, generate much interest amongst ex-RAE Apprentices. An in depth article can be viewed in the December issue of the FASTA magazine on the Internet http://www.fasta.co.uk .

Farnborough Airforce is the first of a new concept, a global aviation club dedicated to providing its members not only with the latest in learning and experience, but also in providing regular direct access to top professionals. The Farnborough Airforce enables its members to become as involved as deeply as they wish in a wide range of passive or participative programmes.

Farnborough Airforce is the follow-on participative programme to the Mach 1 Club, which directly enabled the Thrust SSC team to achieve the first ever supersonic World Land Speed Record in 1997.

Centrepiece of the Farnborough Airforce is the F1 programme, the live creation of Farnborough F1 – a new public transport 6 seat aircraft with a difference. To avoid the airline and terminal congestion, the F1 has been designed to operate an on-demand high speed taxi service, from many of the 7800 small airfields in N. America, Europe and Scandinavia, and flying sectors up to 1000 miles faster than a congested airliner. The market predicts a demand for some 12,000 of these aircraft – it is likely to be one of the largest commercial aviation programmes of our times.

The Farnborough Airforce not only enables its members to follow the creation of the F1 as it happens, but also to gain a private pilots licence, to solo a glider and develop advanced high performance modelling skills – all quality instruction from very highly experienced professionals.

The Farnborough Airforce Heritage section is providing a very valuable programme with monthly historic lectures and presentations from wherever possible the key participants in past aviation projects, events and records. The monthly lectures are held on the second Sunday of every month (with the Exception of August) in Farnborough- Aircraft.com’s facility at Farnborough UK.

Regular features on the Farnborough Airforce, often written by the members are posted on the substantial project web site. Please access this as soon as possible to get an understanding of the project and its huge potential.

The last British production aircraft was the British Aerospace Hawk some 25 years ago. Farnborough- Aircraft.com and the Farnborough Airforce are creating the first of the next generation of British commercial aircraft. This means a new industry, new careers and new employment.

We are planning two exclusive events for members of the RAE Ex-apprentices Association in April and September 2000.

Full details about Farnborough Airforce can be obtained from the web site www.Farnborough-Airforce.com, or please call us at the Farnborough Airforce office on Tel: (44)-(0) 1252 514236. Fax: (44)-(0) 1252 518124.
