I finally got around to visiting your page and am thoroughly impressed. I am easily impressed. I got to get my butt in gear and come up and see you guys soon. Our daughter Delaney is picking up the fiddle after seeing Denny-Bob / Billy Hill at Dizzyland. She says she'll be the next Alison Krauss. Val almost moved out on me when I tried to learn the fiddle. I understand why now.
I have one question for you guys...Why is everybody's hair looking so gray?

I LOVE your web site …… GREAT STUFF.
I often fly in and out of LA. We change planes as fast as possible ! LA looks great from the air ( gaining altitude, and speed) ! The view is equally good going East or West !

But……….We would never have guessed ………. now we have a reason to stay and to head down Interstate 5 ,,,,,,,,, VINCENZO’S ON SATURDAY NIGHT !!!!!!!!

The person standing next to me in the crowded stage photo is Jim Olesh not Jim Owens. Jim plays at the
VFW in Soledad Canyon with Eric White, Bob Applebaum and John Schlocker on Sundays. Rodger and I sit
in there frequently. They aren't doing it now because it's too cold. It will probably start again in April. Jim's
Dad was the original manager for the proto Kentucky Colonels known as the country boys (Eric white,
Clarence White and Roland White). Probably the first great California bluegrass band. Since I've gotten to
know Eric and the Olesh clan, i've been doing a little research on the Colonels. Does anybody know of an earlier California bluegrass band?

The new web site is real cool. I like the psychedelic photos of the band. Maybe there could be a shot of the Dude's walking across Valencia Boulevard with Dennis F. barefoot and out of step with the rest of the band. Then someone could start a Dennis is dead rumor. Or maybe they could be sitting in a field with a bunch of produce in da-glo satin overalls with life size paper cutouts of Monroe, Lester and Earl and Jimmy Martin etc.in the background?!? What do you all think?

I had a grrrreat time at Rodgers party last night!!!! Thanks to Vincenzo's owner Bob for the atmosphere. The Dudes were great and the musicians who sat in were spectacular. Thank you to everyone who likes to hear my song. Vincenzo's feels like home and the regulars who go there are the best!!!!
Dave and Jan, this web site is so much fun, I've got it bookmarked. It was particularly helpful when Dick Fegy passed away. I was unable to be at the wake but was able to read the messages left by all the people who knew him well. I didn't realize the breadth of his musicianship until I read about it on this web site.
I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank every one. If any one has photo's from last night I would love to get a few.

We reeeaaalllly enjoyed stopping to see the Grateful Dudes on our way down to Disneyland. We will try to make a Saturday night in Newhall a stop on all of our trips to Disneyland.

Thanks, Jan, Dave, and Sarah for being there. Maggie especially enjoyed Sarah's company (and those pin machines!).

We're going to try really hard to find a kid friendly venue for bluegrass in the Bay Area. If you ever find yourselves up here, let us know and we can return the favor.

I was looking at the bios of the Dudes and noticed that Bill was noted as the songwriter of "The Girl at the Crossroads Bar" which was recorded by the Greatful Dead. We were interested in finding the recording by the Dead since neither of us recognized the song. I checked the Deadbase and couldn't find it there. However Barry pulled out "The Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band - Almost Acoustic" and there it was. Was it also recorded by the Dead in addition to Jerry Garcia? I'm sure that this will turn up in some edition of Trivial Pursuit someday.

As I was looking for Crossroads, I also discovered that the Barnes and Noble website can be used to search for artists on CDs - not just the main musician but supporting musicians, too. I plugged in "Dennis Fetchet", "Bill Bryson", "Dick Fegy" and came up with quite a few titles of CDs.

Anyway, hope to see y'all soon (maybe January).

Wow! It was so great to see the Dudes last weekend at Vincenzo's! I'm really happy that I had the chance to come (thank you soooooo much Jan and Dave!!!). What a wonderfully talented group of musicians! I had a such a wonderful and relaxing evening. It was the BEST, and so nice to meet all the guys! I had a terrific time, you all are wonderful! I can't wait till my next trip, I definitely hope to come back and visit ya'll again!!

I attended the 3rd Annual "Camp Rude" Bluegrass Music Festival and really enjoyed what I saw and heard. We have an incredible facility in Arroyo Grande, CA and we would like information on how to get an annual festival started. Can you help? Is there a Bluegrass Association to contact?
