This use to be one of my favorite holidays growing up, I was such a patriotic young person. By 11 I had the Gettysberge address, preamble to the constitution memorized and it was only the start of my love of the constitution. I so urge everyone to read these fine documents, including the constitution. Here are a couple of links The words of the Gettysberge address could be easily applied to today's situation, the many men and women who have given their lives in the two World Wars, Vietnam, Iraq. The last few lines kind of say it all, but the whole thing is worth reading. "that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." http://showcase.netins.net/web/creative/lincoln/speeches/gettysburg.htm

Right now the government is NOT UNDER God, or by or for the people, unless you are talking about BANKS and big business being the people they were talking about.

The preamble is only a short introduction to the constitution, sure many of you have read it at one time or another:

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Now don't you all feel a bit more patriotic? Hope you have a great July fourth celebration. My leg is doing much better, the LUMP, mass is a lot smaller this morning and fairly comfortable, except for my head which I can't get comfortable, going to TRY and do this week's column, have it about 1/3 of the way.
