Thanks Norman and everybody for contributing to this thread. I am just concerned that the instruction given in the Ananda materials is not the instruction from Yoganandaji. It seems to me that since kechari mudra is a traditional part of kriya then its instruction would have certain specifics that would differ from how that same mudra was used in other yoga systems (hatha yoga for example.) The Ananda instruction seems fairly general and non-specific which leads me to believe that they are improvising to some degree.
Also, I recall reading on the Walrus website sometime ago where a poster from Ananda wrote that at Ananda they teach nabhi kriya. From what I have read this is a prelimenary warm-up technique that is taught in some kriya lines and involves contemplation on the navel center along with mental chanting of Om. But I find this strange since I thought that this particular technique was not taught in Swami Sri Yukteswarji's lineage. Does anybody know if Ananda really does teach this and if so did Kriyananda receive instruction from Yoganandaji or elsewhere?
