You know, I've given a lot of thought and some further research. Having been intitated into the SRF Kriya Yoga in 1979 and also, initiated into Surat Shabd Yoga in 1983... ther are some significant differences.

They are, however, largely conceptual and I would suggest that the idividual using these techniques defines their effectiveness. Within the state of NO MIND... much of these differneces are just mental chatter.

Kundalinin is not emphasized in the Sant Mat tradition and the followers feel that the yogis in other systems are only accessing lower spirtual planes. This is a highly debatable issue.

Again, this is largely a mental assertion. Both yogas seek to attune one to the sound current and the light of the Infinte Field of Indivisible Supraconsciousness.

Still, the Surat Shabd Yoga begins it's cosmological jpureny towards the Godhead at the thrid eye and escalates into higher and still higher planes, than the physical/astral/causal planes. Also, there is no pranayama in the Sant Mat practice.

Now, I find that the method is the method and just that. Obviously an inexpereinced initiate of Surat Shabd Yoga has far less likelyhood of raising his/her consiousness to the Divine level, that an advanced and deeply expereinced Kriyaban.

An good example can be conceived of in musical terms. Hand a Statovarius to an fledgling violin player and the music is quite hideous to hear. Hand an anverage quaklity student viloin to a seaoned virtuoso... and you get brilliant music. Plain and simple, the yogic systems are not the REALITY that these methods aim towards.

Ultimately, when our mind is stopped and we enter into the Clear Light of the Void and merge inot the silence of the insubstancial quintessence... it's all just a tangle of ideological fixations and something worth tossing into the fire of our Self inquiry.

Many paths to the summit, yet only one peak. All is One.
