According to the yogis, intellect is the thing which can be cloudy when influenced by delusion and the wayward senses or on the other hand it can lluminate the soul. Its not that there is opposition between intellect and action. To function in the world the intellect has to be there to direct activity but to carry out pure, non-karma producing actions it has to be pure intellect. The buddhi must be purified and turn within towards the soul so that intuitive knowing of what should be done and how, which is wisdom, manifests in the consciousness.
