For every purpose there is a season Mike, and for matters spiritual there is a point when the intellect is perceived as a barrier. Koans take care of this problem quite well, as do other yogic practices. In Hinduism/Yoga it is termed Vigyan Mai Kosha, one of the finer coverings obscuring atman.

There is no doubt that the intellect is important in everyday life.

AS to your "denigrate intellect in the name of feeling" - seems a bit strange to me.
