I tend to agree with you on this, Shivanath.

In the book “Kriya – Finding The True Path” Swami Satyeswarananda has this to say:

“In his teaching of Omkar Kriyas, Yogananda made three changes:

20. He modified the nature of the head movement.

21. He changed the place for Viksha (begging).

22. Also, his teaching instructs that the last three askaras of the mantra be put in places which are different than in original Kriya tradition.

In the book “Kriya Yoga and Sri Yukteshvar” the author writes:

”Another startling innovation was that second or the third Kriya was allowed to be practised without having to do Kechari Mudra."

Some editions of “Autobiography of a Yogi” have a footnote in the section describing the passing of Swami Pranabananda saying that what the Swami practised as Second Kriya is taught by SRF as Third Kriya.

Concerning the kriya introduced by the Paramahansa, I have heard that this technique is taught by some Raja Yoga teachers under the name “Yoni Mudra”.
