From the book "Yogananda Sanga", by Swami Satyananda Giri, quoted by Sw. Satyeswarananda in "Kebalananda and Sriyukteswar Biographies", p. 19:

"Wherever we [Manomohan and Mukunda] knew [from Bhagabati Charan Ghosh, Mukunda's father], we apprised Sastri Mahasay [Kebalananda], who taught us in detail the following Kriyas: Mahamudra, Pranayam, THE FOCUSING OF ATTENTION ON EACH CENTER IN THE SPINE, and Yoni Mudra."

It seems that Yogananda's 2nd Kriya was originally one of the 1st Kriya techniques taught to him by Kebalananda.

P.S.: "Viksha" means beginning. Probably Satyeswar is meaning that the higher Kriyas must start from the Kutastha and not from the muladhar. It reminds me the first letter of Lahiri Mahasaya's Patravali:

---------------
No. 1:

The disciple:
Om namah Sri Guruve namah

Bhagavan,

xxxx 5. Those who perform the fourth Kriya in Bishnupur do so after pulling it down, but I do it bringing it up to the Kutastha and fixing it there, as taught by Dukori Babu. Which process is the most suitable?

xxx Servant of servants,

Sri Kailas Chandra Bandopadhyay
Sonamukhi 1296/29 Jaishtha [Bengali calendar]

Lahiri Mahasaya's reply:

Both are good. Sri Shyamacharan Devasharmanah

---------------

As we see, certain minor differences exist between Kriya techniques. Each aythorized disciple of Lahiri Mahasaya had taught Kriya in the way they had received it directly from their Guru, and thus all these small differences between the lines are valid and were sanctioned by the Master himself.
