"Presumably you have conducted a survey of everyone else who has read the book?" Well, I have spoken to quite a few, but as you said, yes, it would be better to let each judge for themselves, without the aid of our too strongly expressed opinions.
As far as what Lahiri was conscious of in those areas, I guess we have no way to know, do we, unless one of us is able to contact him through direct experience, as he encouraged. In fact, woldn't it be better if none of us made judgements about things and people that we have not contacted personally?
