Reminds me of a story. I was doing some prep work before painting a house. A wasp nest was lodged in a portion of the wall that needed to be cleared.

My colleague and I, reluctant to extinguish the lives housed within the nest, conspired to save them by relocating the nest. But how would we accomplish this?

Thinkers that we were, we resolved to use a fish bowl to confine the nest and its inhabitants.

I climbed up a very tall ladder, bowl in hand, then gingerly placed the bowl around the border of the nest.

Naturally, the resident wasps were annoyed, and immediately protested, furiously buzzing around trying to escape.

This made me very nervous, and it was all I could do to maintain my precarious place at the top of the ladder, which was by now shaking underfoot.

Unfortunately, it was at this time that it became clear the second part of our plan - sliding a small sheet of plywood in between the lips of the bowl and the wall - was impracticable; the gap would have allowed the by-now very hostile wasps to escape and seek there vengeance. Equally unfortunate, there was no safe way to retreat and leave the nest intact (without risking the wrath of the wasps). In the end, then, we were forced to kill the little creatures.

The only present manifestation of karmic consequences is that we almost managed to kill ourselves in the process.

So: I don't know how other folks deal with the issue. I would simply counsel avoiding the above-described methods.
