I don't have enough background in astronomy to be able to comment on the validity of the research presented, and, obviously, the reliability of the data is yet to be determined through repeated research. However, I did notice two things. First, the researchers plugged in an assumption of a 24,000 year cyle; not necessarily a crime, but I wondered why that particular assumption. Then I noticed that this research was funded at least in part by the "Yogananda Foundation." I wonder what that is? I've never heard of it before. Anyone know? At least now I understand the 24,000 year cycle assumption.

Ain't science grand when you set out to prove something you've already determined to be true? I'm not saying this is necessarily happening in this case, but my spider sense is tingling.
