Interesting post for Ketch that someone placed on the archive board. Doesn't look like he ever bothered to repost it here.
It read:
Ketch, I was in the Sunburst Community in the late 70?s and early 80?s. In my opinion, you have altered ideas of the importance of some critical things, with clever words. I also wonder if you are qualified to criticise some of the things you do. Have you ever led people? Have you ever written a book? How moral a person are you? Let he who is without sin cast the first stone, eh?

1. Paulsen was a construction worker, not a writer. In any case, that was his first book. What do your first works look like to you, looking back on them with hindsight? So what is the big deal if he revises it? I don?t really even care about this point, except for one thing. I believe his main message is eternal: that we are spiritual beings, and we must act as such.

2. Political and economic power in this world is in the hands of international bankers, such as the Rockefellers, Rothchilds, etc. Their thinking is alien enough for me. Read the truth about the Federal Reserve, for instance, or the book ?None Dare Call It Conspiracy.?

3. The main purpose of Sunburst Community was spiritual. Have you read ?The Book of The Hopi? by Frank Waters? The Hopi have been together as a spiritual community for thousands of years. They have weathered several cataclysmic disasters by following their inner guidance, attuned as some people are to their True Nature. Spirit. Similarly, I believe that many of us were guided to Sunburst Community. True Seekers. We established a place to practice Right Communion, and thousands came, spiritual seekers.

4. You alter ?decision? to ?whim.? Let?s take the example of the atomic bomb. After the horrors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, many of the world?s top scientists, moral men, decided not to work on atomic research, because they did not want to contribute to such destruction. What would result by giving such incredible power into the hands of unscrupulous men? Was this done on a whim? Now we can look at morality in general on this planet. Are we morally advanced enough not to abuse power? How moral a person are you? Could you handle such experiences as Norm reports, without getting a little off-center?
However, one should look at how constructive something or someone is before deciding if it or they are good or evil. Sunburst Communities created a three-state chain of natural food stores, restaurants, bakeries, a fresh juice factory, one of the largest natural foods warehouses on the West Coast. Our stores and restaurants flourished without serving alcohol. We were responsible for the first Organically Grown Codes in California, built up one of the largest organically grown operations in the world, and supported many smaller organic growers. Our Farmers? Markets offered many growers, and consumers, a place to go for organically grown foodstuffs. We helped the Forestry Service in clearing firebreaks in the Sant Ynez, and sent many crews to fight wildfires.
Sunburst Community members did not take street drugs or recreational drugs. We did not engage in Free Love. It was a place to find out the truth of Self, the Indwelling.
I could go on.

What have you created in life, Ketch?

5. I decide what I do, what I create, where I am going.

Random House defines "hippie" as: a person, esp. of the late 60's, who rejected established institutions and values and sought spontaneity, free expression of love, and expanding of consciousness, often wore long hair and unconventional clothes, and used psychedelic drugs.
Let?s try to match this defintion up to Sunburst Communities:

1. a person, esp. of the late 60's, NOPE.

2. who rejected established institutions NOPE (NOT WITH THE STORES, RESTAURANTS, WAREHOUSE, BAKERY, ETC.)

3. and values NOPE. (FARMING, FAMILIES, HOME COOKIN', RELIGION, ETC.)

4. and sought spontaneity, COMMUNION AT 6 AM? ONE DAY OFF/WEEK? NOPE. LOL

5. free expression of love, FREE LOVE? NOPE.

6. and expanding of consciousness, I WILL GIVE YA ONE.

7. often wore long hair ?NO BRAID, NO BLADE.? GIVE YA .25

8. and unconventional clothes, JEANS, T-SHIRT, WORK BOOTS? NOPE.

9. and used psychedelic drugs. NOPE.

Score, 1.25 out of a possible 9, or 14%. Nope, not hippies.

Commune: a small group of people living together, sharing possessions, work, income, etc., and often pursuing unconventional lifestyles.

1. a small group of people NOPE. (4-500 IS NOT A FEW. LOL, MAKES ME THINK OF YOGANANDA'S DISTASTE FOR ADMINISTRATING A "BEEHIVE.")

2. living together, NOPE. (WE HAD FIVE OR MORE COMMUNITIES)

3. sharing possessions, I DUNNO. GIVE YA .5

4. work, OKAY. 1

5. income, SORTA. .75

6. etc., ?ETC.?? EUPHEMISM FOR FREE LOVE. NOPE. LOL

7. and often pursuing unconventional lifestyles. MARKETEERS, TRUCK DRIVERS, COWBOYS, BUILDERS. NOPE.

All right, 2.25 out of 7. That?s 34%. Not a commune, lol.

Please find an atheist or Materialist to attack, instead of someone who, despite flaws, asks that we live up to our potential as Eternal and Immortal Spirit.
