"In March, 1935 I had the Self-Realization Fellowship chartered under the laws of
the State of California as a non-profit corporation. To this educational institution
go all public donations as well as the revenue from the sale of my books, magazine,
written courses, class tuition, and every other source of income."
Autobiography of a Yogi, 1946 edition
"Paramahansa Swami Yogananda renounced all his ownership rights in Self-Realization
Fellowship when it was incorporated as a nonprofit religious organization under the
laws of the State of California on March 29, 1935. At that time he turned over to
the Fellowship all his rights to and income from the sale of his books, writings,
magazine, lectures, classes, property, automobiles and all other possessions. The
corporation, whose affairs are managed by a Board of Directors, does not pay Yogananda
any salary."
