Moreover, I'm sorry to hear about your negative experience ISKON. I've also heard of other negative exeperiences occurring in SRF in regards to Ananda.
However, I must admit that I am not as devout in my following of the hindu scriptures and its teachers as obviously some of you are here.
Mine has only been a passing intellectual and sympathetic interest. I never really got as deeply involved to the point of visiting any temples or shrines, for I am a Christian, How be it a pluralist one at that, which means I believe that other cultures path to God is as valid to them as mine is to me.
Nevertheless, I do see shades of similarities especially in regards to group politics, that know no religious designations, and seems typically unavoidable, for we see divisions in all religions irregardless of race or creed or nature of origin.
One could easily imagine that this is just a product of too much materailism and not enough compassion.
Moroever, I recently came across an article by a pretty famous new age writer that seems to help put this in perspective, although in part I was practically reach the same conclusion as he. I leave the link below.
