(Disclaimer: Anything below
that seems unclear is solely due to my note taking. )
Question:
What about "dry periods"?
Answer:
A "dry period", when it seems like God
has withdrawn , is our test to keep on loving Him.
Q: In
choosing & keeping a job, how to be accepting of all as from
God while not settling for less than I want?
A:
It's O.K. to strive in business, IF we keep the balance of loving
God. Detachment isn't indifference or mediocrity. Do your best,
with your greatest interest & intensity, and inside keep
emotionally aloof. Give your enthusiasm into your job and
meditation.
Conduct as spiritual devotee shouldn't conflict with necessary
conduct in business life.
Stick to your princples!
Q:
What best to do with a person who doubts everything?
A:
Pray for them & leave them alone.
Q:
How to divide time between duty to children & devotion &
meditation?
A:
Train children - it isn't lack of love, to learn they can't
dominate parents. Learn that they must adjust to world, & not
have world adjust to them. It's not lack of love to train them to
respect your activities & needs, this is real love, to
prepare them for the world.
Q:
Can unlimited God be a person?
A:
Yes. Can't think of God as impersonal until this is
experienced in soul. Conception of God gradually changes from
form to the formless, through experience. You can't approach God
in His Absolute aspect, because it causes a division between
yourself & God in your thinking, & then you tend to not
dare to approach Him.
God becomes small for all his devotees. Like a child, Jesus cam
in person to St. Theresa of Avila.
In meditation, make it that intimate, personal, close. It is your
own personal mind that creates barrier between self & God.
Q: O.K.
to daydream of God?
A:
Is too wishy-washy. Make it real. Anandamoy saw Master mirror the
lifelessness of a young man who stood in line to greet him.
Q: Can
married couples become renunciants?
A:
Better one's own duty, even if imperfectly performed, than the
duty of another. Each soul is led into life patterns for its
quickest spiritual development, & usually in a set-up we
don't like. We can't run away from school, only postpone. Is much
better to get lessons out of way now & go on to other
lessons.
The things we like to do that are easy for us are probably things
we did in the past (lives).
Achieve growth through applying yourself to working through your
circumstances.
Q:
Devotion vs. Emotion?
A:
Feeling directed outward is emotion. Feeling directed inward
toward God is devotion.
Q: What
proof that PY was a real master?
A:
Proof of a master difficult because can't see
consciousness. He had complete control of body. Wanted to draw
people to God, not to himself. In the AY, when PY says a saint
called him "little sir", the meaning of what he
translates a s"little sir" is in reality an exalted
spiritual title.
Had cosmic consciousness as a teenager.
Once in the California desert Anandamoy saw PY manifest sundara
(Oh, God Beautiful!), beauty & glory beyond
description...splendor, majesty, glory radiated from him. No
human words could describe it.
In Whispers, the miracle is that God is the light AND the bulb.
Guru is always in
the Christ center of his disciples. There is no place holier in
the world than your Christ center. When you go there you are in
the environment & presence of Guru. Going there with all your
love & attention, gradually you will see him. The divine
splendor is there.
it's not far away, it's right within you.
