Norman Paulsen, who was closer to Yogananada than many people seem to realize, relates more than one occasion leading up to Yogananda's departure in which Yogananda told him that he, Yogananda, would be leaving soon. Some of this is related in Norman's autobiography, The Christ Consciousness. Yogananda definitely knew of his impending departure and was hurrying to finish certain things before having to leave.
