The post-pageant final criticism of Gabrielle in my opinion is just simply racism. No one wants so say it and I may get pounded for hitting the nail on the head but there can be no other explanation. No one had anything to say about Kenisha Thom and Madelene Walcott along with another MW 2nd runner-up, Michelle Khan, representing us for the 2nd time at MU. The blatant double standard of Trinbagonians is utterly indefensible.

Now moving on, based on what LaToya said in the Trinidad Guardian newspaper article "Sweet and Sour end to Miss T&T Universe" (dated 19 May 2011), Peter Elias, Adrian Raymond, Calvin French and Leah Marie Guevara (apart from herself) had nothing to do with this year's MUTT pageant.

I don't know what really transpired and personally I really don't give a flying fish about individual personalities. I just care about branding T&T on the international market. I have to say that I am glad that other people got to wet their feet in the pageant arena because for the longest while it seemed like the same people have had a controlling interest in the beauty preparations with no one with real natural talent being trained to take over the pageants for future years. I KNOW the Ribero guy and a few others have being working along with pageant teams for a while but I have to say that he along with the semifinalist judges at MUTT2010 don't know what the HEL# they are doing when it comes to selecting a competitive PAGEANT delegate. Calvin French is another who should just not open his mouth without thinking becauause he called that international clapper we sent to MW last year a "big contender" for the MW crown. Peter Elias has had more gown flops with international competitors than all others on the local pageant scene and he is obviously not always right- case in point-La Toya Woods. I don't know where this mentatlity of "we should send the best MODEL to the MW and MU pageants" popped into the psyche of these people but in my opinion many great models could be sent and most would end up clapping.

We need pageant teams that are focused on getting a BEAUTY peageant rep. not a freakin' model. Some models can make the transition-others cannot. At last year's MUTT, only Jenna and Miss Arima should have been considered for the title. Jenna was eliminated in the semis (dotish judges- the only alternative is pageant rigging) and Miss Arima did not even make top 3 (are you people for real- the best body of the pageant did not make it). Scrawny LaToya, a rectangular body 1st runner-up with no behind and just an O.K. looking indian lady who I was not sure of as 2nd RU were the result. When the int'al final began and LaToya was a big hit, I thought that for the first time my local-final review was wrong but I did not (and still do not) think La Toya was what MUorg. was looking for. She is a fantastic model but absolutely NOT a beauty queen. We all know what happened.

PEOPLE, we are a small country-we will have to re-send reps. to international pageants. It is unavoidable. The point is, send competitive reps. not one the pageant team likes or the public likes - OUR REP. SHOULD BE THE ONE THE MU AND MW organizations LIKES-PERIOD!!!

Congrats to Mr. Nathan on the local screenings. Gabby will definitely have international pageant fans talking when she dingolays in Brazil and Shinequa will be a future international pageant top 3 finalist (at the very least) in my opinion. The best 2 were in the top 2 spots this year-which is a drastic improvement from that MUTT2010 disaster. I hope Bobby designs Gabby's gown - I am sure it will be much better than LaToya's because Bobby in my opinion, understands a woman's body moreso than Peter Elias could, and he will design a gown that will showcase Gabby's beauty the best - NOT that crap of "let's get a great gown and then believe we will get a great EG score" without stopping to think this is not a modelling gig to showcase clothes-it's a freakin pageant to SHOWCASE THE YOUNG LADY wearing it.
