I never saw a reporter, either. Not in the field, nor anywhere near DaNang where I shipped in and out from. Not stateside either when flying into nor shipping back to Marine Corps bases.

In fact, I never saw anyone over the rank of Major my whole tour in Vietnam during early '69 to early '70.

I suspect that that average soldiers, sailors and marines weren't newsworthy at that time. It was not so for the other side, though. On TV demonstrators got plenty of free press, however. I do remember THAT.
