Howdy Gerald;

I notice that you have already left a tribute to your brother, SP4 Lawrence Joe Crawford, on the Virtual Wall and, therefore, already know all of the information that is available to the general public. Your best bet to try and find someone who knew your brother in Vietnam would be to leave a message in the guestbook of the homepage for the 199th LIB at http://www.redcatcher.org/ , but make sure that you mention that SP4 Crawford was KIA on 5/25/70 (a fact that was not obvious from the above post).

In addition, you could try the homepage for the 2nd/3rd Inf. at http://unitpages.military.com/unitpages/unit.do?id=100295 which has 99 members on their roster. In particular, there is an O-6, COL John W. Lanham, who has dates of service of 1969--1970 and who might have been the battalion commander at the time.

I noticed that SP4 Crawford was only credited with the Purple Heart and the usual service medals on the Virtual Wall. As an infantryman with a combat outfit for almost 9 mo. in Vietnam, he's got to have more than that like an Air Medal or an Army Commendation Medal at least. Have you (as a qualifying next-of-kin) requested a set of replacement medals from the National Archives and Records Administration?
