Howdy Lisa;

I've seen most but not all of those movies. In general, they get high marks for the props used like military equipment, uniforms, and scenery. On the other hand, they get low marks for excessive use of profanity, conflicts between GIs, and attrocities committed by U.S. forces against Vietnamese civilians.

Hollywood has its own agenda which is to make money. Therefore, war movies have to portray a lot of blood, guts, and gore if they are to be successful at the box office. Artists also have a tendency to over emphasize and exaggerate human emotions which is why they are artists and not soldiers.

The only two movies above which are reasonably accurate are "Hamburger Hill" and "We Were Soldiers" because these are accounts of major battles and it would have been ridiculous to deviate from the facts too much. The other movies have some ax to grind or message to sell. "The Green Berets" was pro-war and the rest of them were essentially anti-war.

The bottom line is that you can't get an accurate picture of what was going on during the War in Vietnam from Hollywood. You would be much better off watching some documentaries from the History Channel or equivalent. One documentary that impressed me was called "Letters From Vietnam".
