Howdy Sam;

You didn't mention which battalion of the 5th Marine Regiment that you were in, but since the Marine Corps still uses the old system of lettering companies by regiment instead of by battalion like the Army does (since WW II), I assume that you were in the 1st/5th Marines. The only homepage for the 1st/5th Marines (Vietnam Era) that I can find is at http://unitpages.military.com/unitpages/unit.do?id=703671 . They have 91 members on their roster, but I didn't see your nor Townsend's name listed there. Perhaps you might be able to recognize someone else's name though. Good luck!

My nephew is currently a sergeant serving with A/1st/5th Marines and just got back from his second tour of Iraq. How 'bout that? Different companies but same battalion.
