Howdy CW5 Burn;

By "narrative", I assume that you mean the actual citation for the Distinguished Service Cross that your father received. Although there are some citations for the DSM available online (see http://www.homeofheroes.com/moh/war/1_a_main.html ), the ones for WWII and Vietnam are currently being compiled. I don't know for when the expected completion date is schedualed. There were over 5,000 DSMs awarded during WWII so it's not an easy task. The citations for all Navy Crosses and Air Force Crosses are available online as well as those for the Medal of Honor, but the DSM is last due to the number of recipients.

Since you qualify as next-of-kin (assuming that your father is deceased), you should be able to obtain a copy of father's DSM citation from the National Archives and Records Administration. As for an account of the Battle of Galloping Horse Ridge on Guadalcanal on 12-14 Jan 1943, I'd have to look into it, but I'm sure that there are books available which recount the history of the 25th Infantry (Tropical Lighting) Division's battles during WWII.
