Naah, they cared Larry. Arty units are out of my pay-grade but they seemed to have the same since of pin-point accuracy that air support had. Army, ARVN, Marines or Villagers, same-same with respect to caring. I can't count the number of short rounds or bad coordiates that resulted in close encounters with shrapnel, but that has nothing to do with dereliction of duty.

I found it appalling, misguided, and hurtful, the pictures, and stories that the liberal front pushed inside it's propaganda machine towards the end of the war. That had nothing to do with the 100's of thousands who served honorably, but they took isolated instances and made it the focus and central fixture of the Vietnam War. I have no problems with honest journalism, but it went beyond that and many students today are left with images which weren't in our experience. There's always the story within a story, but the singular moment on any given day, doesn't do justice to the journey or tour.
