Howdy Charlie;

Your best bet is to leave a message in the guestbook on the 27th Inf. Rgt.'s (Wolfhounds') website at http://www.kolchak.org/alumni.vn/ . I can find no mention of that particular battle in the histories of the 1st/27th posted online although they do have accounts of battles which occurred in early 1967 and mid-1968.

Both active battalions (the 1st and 2nd) of the 27th had their base camp at Cu Chi during that time period and operated primarily in III Corps to the west and northwest of Saigon near the Cambodian border. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall page lists 3 men from the 25th Inf. Div. who were KIA on 9/28/67--all of them in Hua Nghia Province due to Gun, Small Arms Fire. However, only one of them appears to have been a "Wolfhound": SGT Charles Anthony Mondyke, and there is no guarantee that he was KIA during the same incident or not.

Sorry that I couldn't help much on this one, but maybe you can get in touch with someone who was there via the above website. Good luck!
