I wouldn't sell our youth short in remembering. I remember being young and I didn't get choked up over WWII or Korea, but played Army with a plastic gun. By the time I was in Jr. High and beyond, I began to study and respect the history but I was more interested in sports, movies or girls. I do not think it neccessarily positive for our countries youth to mourn the past. Our nations future is in their hands, so let's let them move ahead and make this a better country. No one should ever forget the sacrifice, but there's a time and place for that.

This site is one of those venues that gives me hope and I'm pleased and sometimes amazed at the students interest here. A few years back I posted about visiting the moving wall. I really didn't want to attend, but someone picked me up and took me over. Over 100k people parked aways off, and were bussed to the wall. Most were parents or people in their 30's with their children. There were a group of young Marines to be, from about 7 to 14. Yes, they cared, or they would have done something else.

A few years ago, I was in the vet medical center on Valentines Day, and these school children entered with cards for the vets and handed one out to every vet in thank yous for what they had done for them. It leaves one with the impression it was worth it. You guys remember Nam. It was useless and self defeating to pause and reflect back then in the paddies. A new day was approaching. It is as old men, we can grieve, remember and reflect, and how it should be.
