It's an overworked label similar to "hero," because there are countless war heros and heros who will never be recognized. War medals are often dependant upon whose watching, what is your mos, and lest we forget, a medal is usually not awarded for doing your duty, but going the extra distance and throwing themself in harms way with disregard for ones personal safety to accomplish the mission. "War Heros" are a neccessity in the recruitment of patriotism among the youth of a nation. They put a face and story behind the glory and sacrifice in war. War Heros like Audie Murphy, and Ira Hayes have the ability to galvanize a nation behind the Soldier. Without War Heros, War would become a generic process with little interest.
