Howdy Chris;

I'm sure someone will place a rose beside the name of SSG David Samuel Kline, but I'm not in a position to do it myself. I'm not sure what your relationship is to SSG Kline, but you might be interested to know that he hasn't been forgotten by his fellow "Bobcats".

SSG Kline was a member of RECON Plt., Headquarters and Headquarters Co., 1st Battalion, 5th Inf. Rgt. ("Bobcats"), 25th Inf. Div. ("Tropical Ligtning") and was KIA in Hua Nghia Province due to "Ground Casualty, Other Explosive Device". In other words, he was killed by a booby trap in either War Zone C or D in III Corps which is either west or northwest of Saigon near the Cambodian border. He was drafted and because he achieved the rank of E-6 after only a year in the Army probably means that he went through NCO School and did exceptionally well.

There is a tribute to SSG Kline left by a Mr. Denis McDonough on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall page and one left by a Mr. Randy Kethcart on the Virtual Wall at http://www.virtualwall.org/dk/KlineDS01a.htm . Both of these individuals appear to have been fellow "Bobcats" and to have known SSG Kline in Vietnam.
