Subject: Memories Of A Wounded Corpsmen

Hello. My name is Amanda and i'm from New Hampshire. My english teacher has assigned me a project. I basically have to read a bunch of war-works and post comments on my 5 favorites. The poem "Memories" is my favorite. It sheds new light on my idea of a typical American Soldier in Veitnam. They were young, afraid and saw alot of horrible stuff. I guess the last one can be said for any war. "Memories" reminded me of Dalton Trumbo's book Johnny Got His Gun. The Soldiers joined the war because they felt they had to but they never really had to. I can never imagine the pain you felt seeing your comrade die. You are a very brave man sharing your story. Thank you.
