The name is Sgt. [E-5] Carl R. Ussery, RA 16 958 393, attached to HHC 1/5 Cav [TOC Barbara] and A Co. 1/5 from HHS [sometimes also listed as B Co.] 1/77 Artillery. He was a FO and recon sergeant and in Vietnam from 12/03/67 to 09/28/68. We are aware of what the "official reports" say. Just goes to show you can't believe every 'official' casualty report from the Vietnam era. We have copies of the Ft. Rucker accident report, IDPF file, and even those reports conflict within and for certain with what we were told in 1968. Carl was my first husband. Seven years after his death, I married his older brother and we have three grown children. This is indeed a family matter and prior to rather abruptly 9-1/2 years ago, we had no indications of the questions we have! We have gone many of the routes suggested and have only met surreal opposition, if not at times just total ignoring of the FOIA requests...and are considering some of the additional options/suggestions you mentioned. I assure any documentation mentioned can be provided and sent to you if interested, to support our claims, but not for placing those online. I might mention also that we have spoken with two of the survivors of the crash they claim Carl was on and the unit ont he ground, B 1/5 Cav members, although nobody spoken with, nor any of the unit members on the ground involved, knew or had even heard of Carl Usssry. You will find his name on panel 42W, line 37. Thanks again.
