I see that Lang Vei was at YD 344510 during 1968...yet wasn't it some distance from the Ft. Rucker's coordinates of YD 344341, where they claim the crash occurred? Also within that same Ft. Rucker report, they state that the crash occurred 1-1/2 miles east of LZ Barbara. I find LZ Barbara's coordinates listed 3 times, YD 328336, YD 329337, and YD 330335, and comrades have confirmed that. Also, we have the 1/77 Duty Log that states 1/77 Artillery is providing artillery support to B 1/5 in that same time frame...at YD 260***. Although Carl was with HHC 1/5 and A Co. during his tour, and we have found nobody from B 1/5 who had even heard of Carl, reports confirm that it was B 1/5 that was on the ground at the crash site. Also, that was supposedly a resupply mission. Carl was a FO and recon sergeant...he wouldn't have being going out on a "routine resupply mission" and all agree most unlikely that he would have been going out to join B 1/5 Cav. We don't doubt the C/227 - B 1/5 crash occurred, wherever it occurrred, it's just that we have significant reason to believe Carl wasn't on that helicopter.
