Subject: General William Westmoreland, 1914-05

"Few have a field command as long as I did. They put me over there and they forgot about me. I was there 7days a week, working 14 to 16 hours a day. I have no apologies and no regrets, gave my very best." General Westmoreland led thousands of Nam Vets, 1982, to the dedication of the Vietnam Memorial. He called it, "one of the most emotional and proudest moments of my life." The General saw action in three wars. Commanded the 34th Field Artillery Battalion fighting German Field Marshall Rommel. Promoted to Brig. General during the Korean War and later served under Maxwell Taylor. Retired in 1972, but remained active in Veterans activities. He also stood up to the misinformation media blitz with a law suit which was settled before it went to the jury. "is not about whether the Nam War was right or wrong, but whether in our land, a tv network can rob an honorable man of his reputation."
