I respect everything you post Larry, because it comes from the heart. Whether I agree or no, I come away with respect for you. I've carried a chip on my shoulder my entire life over the Vietnam War and the American peoples desire to toss the Vet aside along with the war. Today, a very small fragment of society is affected by service in Iraq and Afgan. Much smaller than Nam. They can watch their "reality tv" shows, and carry on their life without ever tuning in to the men and women who have lost their arms and legs. Let's go back to the draft. How long would this countries committment last under the Nam rules? You'd have the same pandamonium you did in the 60's if you took Johnny and Sissy out of college to send them off to Iraq.
Today, new rules, we take the National Guard, the Reservists, and rake the barrel. Hiding sacrifice, so the quaint evangelicals, and those who choose to be dreamers can dream. Their lives are not disrupted by war. I gotta tell it like it is. Tell me where I'm wrong?

I am amazed, flabbergasted, by the motivation and steadfast attitude of our military. Where were we two years into Nam?
