Subject: The Navy and Agent Orange

Howdy Susan;

I'll try to explain via e-mail. I'm sorry to hear that your uncle died at such an early age. Most people don't know it and the Navy denies it, but Agent Orange was transported, stored, and handled onboard Navy ships. I've heard of at least one other incident involving an aircraft carrier but it wasn't the USS Constellation. There were even reports that Agent Orange was used at the Naval Air Station in Asaka (Sp?), Japan. Unfortunately, the VA only presumes exposure to AO for those who served in-country in Vietnam--all other cases must be proven by the claimant which is extemely hard to do.
