I served at Binh Thuy as the Detachment 13 Maintenance Technician/Security Police Augmentee from May 66 to May 67. I arrived 12 days after the base was officially commissioned by the VNAF. I performed the site survey for the Bendix WTR-1 weather radar on top of the control tower. The "CAb" under the operations control tower was officially called the "Remote Observation Station (ROS) and I spent many hours there. I served as an M-60 machine gunner with the Security Police on July 8, 1966 during out first engagement. I knew Lehman (KIA) fairly well. I have more Binh Thuy/Detachment 13 info., please contact via e-mail. First Detachment Commander was Major Allen Malloy, 2nd was Captain David D. McGuire.
