Subject: George Sherman Lacey DeNang Airbase Apr 65 - July 20, 65

My father was 1 of the 25 mechanics that was saved by SSgt Jensen & Al Handy. My father died at 42 of cancer. At that time they did not recognize agent orange for health issues. I was conceived within weeks of him coming back from DaNang Air Force Base. He came back to the states July 20,1965. I only met my father one time. He ended up stepping out on my mom a few years after marriage. It is my believe whatever happened on a July 1st, 1965 changed him. He would drink peppermint schnapps and other liquor. When he did this he would try and push my mom in the refrigerator. I think he thought he was being fired at and said he was pushing her into the bunker. All my adult life I wanted to know the story of what happened to my father at the DaNang Airbase. Is there any way of finding out if any guys that served with him are still alive? I would like to know stories of my father. Like I said I met him once and then a couple of years later he ended up dying of cancer. So I never had a chance to get to know his personality or anything. Any help would be helpful. My name is Tammy and my e-mail is alsterlindtammy@gmail.com. My father’s name was George Sherman Lacey. He was stationed at George Air Force Base in Adelanto, CA before being shipped to DaNang Air Base.

See his military records attached.I have been trying to get any medals he may have earned w/no luck.

Thanks in advance.

Tammy Ann Lacey - Alsterlind
