Are there any clues to start looking for to tell gender? At what age will colors start to show to make a positive ID? There is a center stripe surrounded by circles of color(on each feather) As males get older they show many splangles that you wish that they could keep. Some females are mostly white with some gray markings but the "equal rights" girls will have some markings simular to males but those markings will not be cleanly and crisply printed as the males. ________ The above does NOT apply to black shoulder spaldings whose females have extra beautiful markings that are permanent
