I hae inherited a peahen (probably only a year old), she has been reared in an aviary and does not know how to fly. My other peafowl fly everywhere and know to stay off the ground. I am having to keep her in as she just squats on the ground - not even going up to roost at night.
She probably has never had the chance to fly - do you think she will learn from the others or is it wise to keep her contained for her own safety due to preditors?.

She probably is ignorant about the dangers of living free
and needs protection.
If her wings are normal (no parts cut off) she may learn
how to fly.
Some years back I was raising a pet who did not know her
power to fly. When she was about half grown something
startled her while we were walking from my house to the pen
where she spent daytime hours. Without meaning to do it she
flew into abandoned horse pasture grown into jungle.
I was able to find her by making the sound of a lost
peachick which she answered. She was willing to be picked
up and carried home.
