Not necessarily true. It might be the case for someone who doesn't know how to handle really young babies- letting them get chilled or feeding unsafe food during play time etc, just like with parrot babies.
You know how to be careful so for you it would be fine. My friend actually had one she spoiled quite a bit and it was very very tame.
There is one possible problem that crops up in peachicks raised that way.. some of them turn mean and attack people. Not talking about occasional pecking but full out fledged attacks- clawing, flapping and biting. The whole works. Sometimes they direct it at the person who raised it, others direct it at all other people. Not all turn out that way but it happens.

I have more experience hand raising parrots but I did end up with a single peachick a few years ago. This may be the exception to the rule but I raised him in my living room until he was about 6 months old (yes, I've been accused of being crazy) but he turned out to be very special to me. When I called him he would come running and then fly on my arm. He loved to perch on my shoulder and sit in my lap. I enjoyed him being so tame and I know he loved all the attention.
