Can anyone recommend some good disinfectant for enclosures? I want something that kills all known germs, worm eggs...etc
I've just lost my cockerel to some disease, after force-feeding him indoors for 5 days. Eventually his skin went yellow and his pooh turned a really violent green colour, so all the wormer and antibiotic I was also pumping into him didn't work.
I've got one peacock and four other bantams in that enclosure at the moment and I'm not keen on letting them out until I know they're ok. Meanwhile I'd like to disinfect the area. I'm treating them all for coccidosis and worms to be on the safe side.

PS: The cockerels pooh (excuse me) was green when he first fell ill, it just got worse. Is that a useful symptom for anyone to diagnose? And...the vet put him to sleep, I couldn't bring myself to dispatch him, he was a nice old bird. :o(

What a horrid time you are having - As you know i can't help i am afraid - just did this to bump you up to the top of the forum again so that someone may be able to help. just called my friend that knows a lot about chickens she uses jayes fluid - sorry not much help - hope someone else can help
At least all my other birds are looking ok. One bantam looked a bit depressed yesterday, but she's looking happier now. I think the new cockerel was being a bit rough with her.
I've got some Jeyes fluid (haven't we all in a cupboard somewhere!) but it's so smelly I worry about killing the birds. I might dilute it and slosh it around a bit.
On another note, when we arrived home from shopping today, there was one peahen flopped out on our front door step, one flopped out next to her on a flower bed, another one a bit further along under some wisteria and the peacock slumped on the path...all sunbathing...I thought..."Ahhh...this is my home...lovely...". They do make me happy sometimes (when they're not making a racket!) lol
