I think it's too early to let your peacock out with the others. He'd have needed to have thoroughly bonded with them, and I'm not sure 2 weeks is long enough.
When I've had to get a new bird, I've put them in a separate area, I think I kept them in about four weeks to make sure they knew where they were. How big is this 'dog kennel' you mention? I'm having visions of a little kennel with a peacock head sticking out the top!
Whether your birds will return to their situation of roosting in the coop at night...I don't know. Maybe your new peacock will teach them to jump up into the trees at night instead...or maybe they'll teach him to roost inside.
These are only my opinions, I've had peafowl for about 3/4 (? can't remember!) years and I'm still asking questions. It's all a learning curve, but as always...better safe than sorry when releasing your new birds.

Thanks for the suggestions and ideas. I appreciate that every situation is different. I do think that at least a month, and maybe six weeks would be better. I've managed to let my guinea fowl out without letting the peacock out of the pen a couple of times. It just takes longer to get them all back in again without letting Reginald out, too! But it can be done. The pen is around 29' long by 9' wide and 6' high, covered with chicken wire and some parts with tarps on top over roosts, with a an 8'x8' coop at each end. Reginald goes all over the place, including both coops, and doesn't seem to mind the guineas or the two peahens. Jan

I can not help you because I keep my peafowl in their
secure pens at all times. Once a peafowl is out of pen it
may fly into a tree to sleep. But it is NOT safe from
owls
