If you are in a state that has "county agents" to give
agricultural advice you can collect some of those worms
and take them for identification. A few yrsrs ago I found a
tick in my ear. I put that tick in a bottle to keep it and
later carried it to county agent who mailed it to a state
college where an entomologist identified it as a male deer
tick.
If your state has poultry labs you can get help from them.
It is good that those worms are on the ground and your pea-
chicks are "off the ground". My own peachicks are also
protected in mini-coops on three foot posts. But last
year a peachick several months old died of botulism
symptoms. I found maggots under the water container.
Some maggots become infected with botulism so that chicks
that eat them can die or suffer nerve damage. The odd thing
is that one peachick died and another one just like it
was not even a bit sick because the stronger one ate all
the maggots except the one that were hiding under the
water container
