That rule of primary flight feathers:
rust red for males
choclate brown for females
works best on purebred India blue
in the first week of their life or even peachicks that have
just hatched and dried their chick fuzz.
Being heterozygous (some say split) for any other color
can complicate things
----------
My old eyes have suffered while peering at feathers that
artistically flecked, streaked, or dotted in rust and
chocolate!!!!!!!!!
